I would like to take a series of images of the sky in the form of a
mosaic. No gaps between the images but with only a small overlap. Somewhere recently I saw some software that enabled the observers to put in the details of their set up and the area to be covered and the software calculated how best to take the mosaic. Any ideas of where I can find out the best way of taking these images? Many thanks |

Martin,
One of the best ways of doing this would be to use the Sky and its mosaic feature. It allows you to specifiy the area of the CCD chip/photo and the % overlap. It then drives the scope to the right spot and allows you to take an image and then move on.. A totally automated mosaic is a bit more difficult but can be done by the Sky/CCDSoft/Ochestrate. |

Hi,
I would like to take a series of images of the sky in the form of a mosaic. No gaps between the images but with only a small overlap. Have a lok at Panoramatools: http://www.path.unimelb.edu.au/~dersch/ AFAIK, there are also numerous GUI frontends based on this software.
