Ahhh...
http://www.digitalsky.org.uk/comets/...2005-01-12.jpg Rushing around like a mad thing tonight as I take an astro class at the local primary school on Wednesday evenings. I've learned loads ;-) Nice to have a clear night for once and to show the kids some real stuff as opposed to me talking all of the time. Kids are great. If you get them to stand in a line they make a really portable wind-break. Nice session, saw loads but the Moon captured everyone's imagination (except mine!). http://www.digitalsky.org.uk/earthshine.html Next door neighbours have left their outside light on by mistake tonight. First time ever. Sadly, I'm quite glad as it means I can get a relatively early night ;-) Night, night... -- Pete http://www.digitalsky.org.uk Global Projects - http://www.globalobservers.net |

Short nights and high trees have conspired to make any further shots unlikely. ....and a question: What is the *actual* colour of the gas/ion/dust cloud? Greenish or blueish? Lacking RGB filters (and suffiecient patience) I can't make a definite pronouncement. -- Jeff R. (in stinking-hot [39+C] Sydney) |

Lacking RGB filters (and suffiecient patience) I can't make a definite pronouncement. The coma definitely shows a greenish tint, the gas (or ion) tail is blueish and the dust tail that we have trouble seeing due to the earth comet orientation, seems to have a yellowish tint. No style these comets ;-) Jeff R. (in stinking-hot [39+C] Sydney) You can go off people you know Jeff ;-) -- Pete http://www.digitalsky.org.uk |
