Does anyone remember the James Bond movie, where JB is about to be cremated by a shuttle launch? If this were to happen, would death be instaneous?

Depending on the precise location there might be some
discomfort from falling bits of red-hot zirconium (the
"sparklers" seen being used just before launch to burn
off any stray hydrogen), but when the mains ignite that
is all she wrote. The mains' ignitors are inside the
engines so the first result of ignition would be a 2000
degree blast of ionized plasma.

If you post, do us the pleasure of identifying yourself;
using dizum will not get much of a (positive) response
from newsgroups as people feel only cowards use
anonymous remailers.

And how do you feel about top-posters?...

If it's on-topic, to the point and apropriate, no problem. I wasn't
commenting on the coward (sorry... poster's) post, but the source of that
post. For that reason, top posting was not inappropriate.

How do you feel about it?

One more thing, Chuck; why didn't you respond directly to the post by
"Anonymous"? Are you like most people on these groups and have killfiled
names like "Anonymous" and "dizum"?

Yes, yes. I think we've all caught the general drift of your opinion on anonymous
posting by now. While I realise you've your own particular reasons for holding
a grudge I wish you'd ignore them instead of posting to point out their 'cowardice'
every time a remailer or Google is used to start a thread.

Yeah Alan, I hear you. Problem is sooner or later some nitwit complains
"abuse" to my IP who threatens to cut off my usenet service without
evaluating the complaint for what its worth - hot air. You can please some
of the people all the time and all of the people some of the time, but you
can't please all of the people all of the time.

Thanks to all posters for answering my question.
