Comet Machholz easy bin object between two mag 4 stars through brief
cloud break this evening and level with Rigel in Orion under bright

Great picture Gavin. What are the two bright stars in the picture? I
would like to try to process your photo to make a magnitude estimate -
assuming that's okay with you.

Stars are 38 [upper] and 40 Eri and good luck. Gibbous moon nearby
has supressed the comet somewhat.
