Hello everybody,
I know there are some people in this group that work (either paid or as amateurs) around very large research telescopes of the world . I am interested in the topic of lateral mirror support methods , actuators and mirror to cell attachment , as well as mirror cell design for large scopes .. I am aware of what is used by amateurs , I have had some glimpses of some implementations for large scopes, but I'd like to see a scientific approach , some peer reviewed work that shows how and why things are done the way they're done in supporting the very largest mirrors . I'm interested in scopes like the LBT and other Earth based instruments , although the topic of next generation space based instruments mirror support is interesting too .. I am not interested in multiple or segmented mirror instruments . Any pointers highly appreciated. best regards, Matt Tudor |
