Default Why angular distance and apparent diameter ?

Hi,

Could anybody kindly explain why angular distance and apparent
diameter other than common measures such as meter and cubic meter are
applied to state the distance between celestial bodies and the size of
them?

Thanks!

Regards,
Nathan

Is this homework? Sounds like it might be.
