Default Virgin in the star naming business?

The other day, I spotted a leaflet at Sainsbury's check-out that had the
Virgin logo, and advertised a star-naming service. I did not pick it up so
I don't have details, but it looks like the usual star-naming scam. Is it
really that easy to con people out of their money?

Will Virgin guarantee that no star they name has previously been named by
any other organisation? After all, those companies state that their
register of names is lodged in the Library of Congress in Washington DC, so
of course THEIR names are the official ones.

More details once I get hold of an ad.
