Default Legs or Pier

Which provides more stability for a GP class mount, a set of oak legs a la
Al's Astro, or an SVP pier?

Steve... if well designed, legs can provide just as much stability as a rugged
pier. OTOH, a badly designed pier can "resonate" worse than almost any tripod.
But the bottom line for me is that it takes up WAY too much observing time
digging a new hole and waiting for the concrete to dry when not observing from
my own backyard.
