Hi all,
I've done up my large milky way mosaic as a map with clickable lookup references. There are lots of large-scale features, mainly large emission regions and large dark nebula clouds that remain unreferenced because I am having difficulty finding refrerences that are easily cross-referenced. then again, I suppose it's not an easy task! If you have a look and can identify any of these areas or know-of a good reference for me, please let me know. The page is he http://astroshed.com/milkymap.html Eddie, It is a terrific image, and one that I have returned to often. Perhaps the best place to start for references is Dave Riddle, whose knowledge of nebulae is among the best in amateur circles. His address is davecriddle-at-charter.net. Another option is to join the Amastro Yahoogroup that I moderate (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/amastro/). It is devoted narrowly to visual observing, but catalogue data and interpretation is related enough to be discussed often on our group. Tom |

Thanks for that Tom!
I can see this is going to take some time. I need to modify the existing number system to something that will take up less space to allow me to add more references and there are lots of large, bright.objects there that I would like to include. It's an ongoing project that I would like to make as thorough as possible so I will followup your suggestions. All the best, Eddie It is a terrific image, and one that I have returned to often. Good job!
Now we just need someone to fill in the Northern Hemisphere bits. Sorry I can't help identify the missing mystery nebulae. -Paul W. Hi Paul,
There is as much north of Sagittarius as there is south there. Some visitors to the map have not noticed the scrollbar beneath the map. I'm working on making this more noticeable. -- Regards, Eddie Trimarchi ~~~~~~~~~~~ http://www.astroshed.com http://www.fitsplug.com "Paul Winalski" wrote in message ... Good job! Eddie,
I noticed the scrollbar. North of Saggitarius, your map only extends as far as Aquila. The Milky Way continues north of there, passing through Cygnus (the Cygnus Star Cloud is one of the major attractions in the MW), Perseus, Cassiopeia, then back South through Auriga, down into Puppis, Centaurus, and Crux. Those bits aren't in your map. -Paul W. On Sun, 21 Nov 2004 02:16:20 GMT, "Eddie Trimarchi" wrote: Hi Paul, There is as much north of Sagittarius as there is south there.
