I decided to get the 13" Coulter. Seems it has a SUPERB mirror and the
views blow away an Orion 12.5"....So I did well. And the field of view is incredibly free of coma and flare....so, I'm going to just enjoy it and save for a Tscope.... I sure wish I could find some reviews of the Tscopes. The main reason I would spend the $$$$ is for easier setup...but is the Tscope "shaky" since it's so light? Can you push it up to 400-500 power? If your Coulter mirror is that good, have Ed build a structure around it. He was also selling kits, if you have a grand to spend and the necessary wood-working skills to put the kit together. As for the structure, a local amateur has a 16" F4.5 Tscope (Meade mirror) and we had that sucker up over 400x on Jupiter one night. Best view I've ever had of Jupiter in a little over three years in the hobby. (Around these parts, 400x nights come but twice a year... at least when you are out). |

Not a review, but perhaps the most info available: http://www.tscopes.com/T14/Options.html Just a thought. . .I don't believe a 14 inch mirror is going to be worth the expense if seen as an upgrade from a 13.1 inch. The differences are negligible. . .given a good figure on both surfaces. -- Martin "Photographs From the Universe of Amateur Astronomy" http://home.earthlink.net/~martinhowell |

I own a 14" Tscope. The motion is very smooth, and the scope stays
where you put it. Not at all "shaky", even at high power. Ed Taychert put a lot of thought into the design. The weight is reduced without sacrificing rigity and stability. -Paul W.
