Default Need Advice

I am new to Astronomy, and just bought my first telescope. It is an
Orion AstroView 6 EQ Reflector. I would appreciate anyones opinions
on this scope. Thanks.

Hi JB, I think this will make a fine first scope.

Hi JB -

In effect, this is something like locking the barn after the horse has
been stolen - I mean you've already bought it. Ideally, seek advice
before making a purchase....

On the other hand - you choose very well - this should make a very
good first scope.

It's a good choice for a first scope. There are other choices just as good
but you did well.

Now -- here's the bad news -- you need to spend some more money -- buy some
more stuff --

Buy these books:
-- "Turn Left at Orion"
-- "The Backyard Astronomer"
-- "Skywatching, " by David Levy

Buy a planisphere, make certain it's for your latitude.

Get a red LED flashlight.

Get a 2X Barlow.
