Here in the Phila area the clouds came in about 9:00 pm and we were blanked out
till it was over

That's strange. I was seeing orange coloration halfway through the partial
phases, and a deep dark orange during totality. Also, lookit the photos some
people have already posted. I'm afraid smoke was getting in your eyes.

Same to your north in Scranton, except the clouds parted at 11:30 pm. Good
viewing then on till end of event.


John, et al:

In the Binghamton NY area it was mostly clear to the northeast of town. At
Kopernik Observatory, where about 150+ people showed up, it was mostly
cloudy until around 11, when it cleared. Near the end of the eclipse we
started getting some ground fog.
