In Sky and Tel for Nov. there is a description of observing
Stephan's Quintet using an 18" reflector. The author describes seeing NGC-7319 as a dim haze with little central brightening. The photo of the galaxies shows NGC-7319 as having a noticeable central condensation. This leads me to believe that when someone is viewing these galaxies, they are probably only seeing the central condensation and some minor fringe and not the entire extent of the galaxy visible in the photos. |

Hi: Well, yeah, that would be a pretty safe bet, I'd guess. ;-) Peace, Rod Mollise Author of _Choosing and Using a Schmidt Cassegrain Telescope_ Like SCTs and MCTs?
