I've been idly thumbing through the EQ6 yahoo group & checking out some goto
kit sites and it crossed my mind: why isn't it possible (or rather, is it possible) to just create a software solution to making any scope with a hand controller goto by writing the write driver & getting a cable that'll match a serial port & a phone plug? ... surely all that gets sent down through the telephone jack is a set of pulse signals to tell the stepper motors to move in a certain direction. Swap the hand controller for a driver and hey presto, no motors etc need to be changed. It may be a slow goto scope, sure, but it'll still be a goto scope. Yes or no? Been cloudy here for a week ...
