Default Photography advice - Genesis spacecraft

I live in Utah and I am considering driving to Wendover to try to see
the Genesis recovery on the morning of Sept. 8. I may try to take
some photographs using a telephoto lens and/or using a 6" DOB. Never
having done this before, does anyone have any suggestions or pointers
on film speeds and exposure times?
