They are up at 5:00 am local Daylight time. Get up early and take a look.
It must be winter coming. The skys were very hazy but seeing was very steady here in Northwestern Illinois. Saturn rings were just great, and Orion still the same. Jule J. DuBois at 42N 90.6W |

Jule,
I surely went out this morning and had my first peek at Saturn this fall, looked at Venus first though, a healthy crescent shape. Saturn was a welcome sight, I saw it right at 5:20am, rings, Cassini fine down this way. It smelled like a hint of smoke in the air, I don't know if they are burning fields already-sugar cane?-here in southeast Louisiana, but overall the view was pretty good. I had my Orion Shorty plus barlow and Sirius 25ep, then switched to my 10mm Highlight plossl barlowed with an XT4.5 dob. Kerry 29.52N 90.33W |

Saturn rings were just great, and Orion still the same. I had a wonderful view of Orion clearing the trees with Venus and Saturn in tow from Mount Kobau last week, say, about 0400 local time. A shame I didn't have any film with me suitable for fixed-tripod shots. It would have made a nice one. :-( Laura Halliday VE7LDH "Que les nuages soient notre Grid: CN89mg pied a terre..."
