Default Newbie scopes

Hi
Although I am a newbie and not familiar with many scopes I purchased one
about six months ago. The scope I purchased was a celstron nexstar 114
complete with goto which I have found to be a fantastic starter scope
(although as I say I don't know much about them)
While out at Costco today I noticed they had them back in at £154 inc. I
just thought it may be worth sharing with the group as I notice quiet a few
posts asking about good starter scopes while on a budget.
Kind Regards
Tony

You might get a new one cheaper on ebay. Thanks for the recommendation, I
was wondering. Can in be made to track for a long exposure, do you know?

I don't know it has lots of features in the hand control that are foreign to
me. You may get cheaper on eBay but I don't know if the scope will be as
good and also whether they will have a 2 year warranty. I did check the
price of this scope online before I purchased and the cheapest I found it
was £400
Kind Regards

Hi,

I have one of the 114GT's - I have found that the accuracy of the GOTO
is pretty good for a £150 'scope, but the tracking is really apalling.
There is no way one could get 5sec exposures. There is a NEXSTAR
Yahoo group that is quite active and full of stuff about these
'scopes.
Regards
Andrew
