Default Q4 NEAT

It seems like endless weeks of cloud and haze in the North West have finally
relented.

I viewed this comet from suburban Manchester at 22:30 BST. Magnitude ~ 3
and a tail of over 1 degree. Using 20x100 binoculars.

It should be a very nice sight from a dark location!!

Get out there!
Paul

Roll on the next dark night. With my new Equatorial wedge, I stand 1/2 a
chance of getting a photo :-)

Have you got an equatorial wesge then ? ;-)

Is it the Meade one or did you put something together yourself ? I'd
like one, but not ready for one yet - so far have only used my scope
once since I got it :-(

Hi Andrew.

Yep. I just got the Meade wedge, and the BC&F fine focus knob. Just need
to wait for the three weeks of statutorty bad weather (sorry all, it's my
fault, this time) to pass, then hopefully I'll be able do some real piggy
back, and prime focus AstroPhotography.

Regards

Colin.

Nice - let me know how it helps with the photography - I'm still stuck
on basics doing old fashion optical onservations - not ready for imaging
yet, but soon ...

Hadn't spotted those knobs - Chris said in an earlier post how useful
his home made one was for focusing with the Meade LPI so I just ordered
one - thanks for the pointer !

For shame ! The cloud should be just clearing after I got mine, I was
*really* hoping to be able to use it soon !

Good luck !

It's back to school for me, we had a perfect night last night, it's looking
promising again tonight. Last night, I was too eager, and couldn't even get
the scope aligned. I've found a couple more websites with info, but it
there seems to be about 1/2 a mile of text to wade through. This equatorial
stuff is dammed hard. I think I've got the jist of what was being said so
I'm going to wait for the stars tonight and try again.

I think, it'll be worth the extra effort in the end.

I got to use mine for the first time last night, it's given me a whole new
scope. It's much easier to get the sweet spot now.

Woohoo, the gods have been kind. They're making me stay up late, but the
weather is perfect :-) My purchases didn't cause the usual rath of the
gods.

Think I'm going to need it. Just getting the scope aligned, once I've got
the hang of it photography shouldn't be a problem.

Not in the far NW it hasn't :-( It seems like I have been peering through
the murk after his one for ever. The forecasters aren't promising any better
for round here for the next few days either :-(
