Default South West Optics

Credit where credit is due. Nice to give a supplier a pat on the back for a
change.
I purchased a Meade ETX 125 (The cheapest I could find anywhere in the UK
Including delivery!) from South West Optics and unfortunately it was
defective. They collected it and delivered me a brand new replacement within
10 days at no extra cost to me, no questions asked.

Yep, have to agree with this sentiment. Steve R is a great guy who will help in any circumstances.
Bought my 8" from him and the tripod broke, had it replaced (with the EQ6 SS tripod no less) within
a week...

Excellent.

Indeed, got my first scope from Steve, very helpful on the phone and
excellent service, so it's all his fault

While we're on the subject of praising people, I've now had a few dealings
on ebay with a seller by the name of mtech-sys (Microtech Systems) - I've
bought three eyepieces and a filter of him and he's always sent the goods
promptly and well packaged. Quite good prices as well. 4mm Celestron plossl
eyepice was 29.99, the others were about the same. The 32mm Celestron plossl
is a damn fine e/p in my opinion.

I'd recommend him if you're eBay-inclined.

This is just as important as telling-tale on the poor suppliers - keep
the good one's listed too.

But what about the one's that are usually pretty good and sometimes
bloody awful? That's all of them isn't it?

Well we don't know if we all keep quiet about them ;-) A few bad
reports may skew the picture. A sense of perspective is needed
obviously, but I really do start to get annoyed when kept waiting
days/weeks for small, non-specialist items without some form of
communication or apology on behalf of the vendor.

I think we're all clever enough to work out what's what though.
