Sir Patrick Moore 80th Birthday Tour Mars: The Next Frontier Sunday 22nd February, 7.00pm Sir Patrick Moore, media personality and the UK's leading stargazer, celebrates his 80th birthday year by returning in a fifth national tour with an entirely new lecture, Mars: The Next Frontier. Mars, the Red Planet, has always been regarded as a world which may support life. We now know that there are no Martians, but the planet cannot be dismissed as sterile. Various probes are set to land there Christmas 2003. Patrick – himself a life-time observer of Mars – tells the latest knowledge of conditions there, and goes on to discuss manned missions, permanent bases and eventual colonies. The Lecture is followed by an open discussion Grab this chance to hear our leading astronomer outline how there will be two species of mankind. (Link will be split over a few lines, probably. ;o) ) http://www.mansfield-dc.gov.uk/lei_m...40222_patr.htm I didn't realise until wednesday when my wife told me she had booked it. Which was nice!
