magazine looks interesting and they have definitely identified a niche.

the Irish Federation of Astronomical Societies has produced a FREE bimonthly
magazine since January 2003. It was conceived as a publication to tie
together the member clubs of the Federation but also to give start-up groups
and smaller clubs a publication that they could call their own and thus use
to bring in members.

it is distributed as a downloadable pdf but also photocopied and bundles of
copies posted to member clubs for distribution.

the archive and current (24-page) issue is available at
www.irishastronomy.org -- go to the FILES section in the RESOURCES menu and
look for the "ARCTURUS" subdirectory.

you can also directly download the current issue from www.irishastronomy.com

the current issue has a 2-page article on the transit of Venus in June 2004,
a 3-page article on space missions in 2004, information on all the celestial
highlights for the year ahead, an account of last autumn's aurorae, and the
regular skynotes for the period.

all clubs are welcome to freely use the content for their own
journals/newsletters and you can e-mail me if you would like any article in
Ms-Word or other format.

previous issues have subjects range from binocular star hops of Cancer,
Ophiuchus, Aquila, and Perseus along with insights into astronomical history
and cosmology.

regards and have a nice weekend everyone!
