Default Nebula Magnitude?

Hi,

As a newbie I am confused with Red Shift 5. 8-(

I looked at the magnitude on Bode's Nebula which is listed as +6.93.

Then opened the visibilty windown in Red Shift and noticed that the
magnitude was listed as +24.9?

I am obviously missing something here, surely the magnitude cannot
vary that much?

Martin
