So far fewer rapid changes in the lights than last night, but in
contrast, most of the activity seems to be in the S SW and SE though the sky overall seems to have a glow of its own. For the last half-hour there has been a virtually constant corona slightly south of the zenith with occasional red rays emanating in contrast to the predominant green rays. Bands of green to the SW and S. Probably means a better display for more southerly watchers. Michael 55:8:24 N 6:41:42 W |

Michael 55:8:24 N 6:41:42 W I just poked my head out for a look and didn't see anything (I'm at 56:25N, 3:14W). I'd assumed there wasn't much happening tonight as I didn't see anything earlier. Must pop out for another, longer look.... Brilliant VHF radio propagation again this evening here in Essex. 100% clouds and rain cover so no optical observation; but no problem with reception of many stations from around the Baltic countries and as far south as the Channel Isles via the auroral curtains. Always well worth monitoring the aurorae by radio if too cloudy for optics. Anthony |

Did anyone else see that brilliant orange-red glow overhead right
through Taurus? It made Aldeberan even more glowing red! Thats the only thing I noticed almost missed it cos I was looking north trying to get a break in the clouds. Sky clearing a bit here in N.Ireland might take a trip away from town. Wasn't really impressive here cos getting backscatter of sodium lights from clouds at 1500 feet. I'll pop out in 15 mins and decide if I will go for a drive Stan |
