I'm looking to mount an 80mm short-tube on my C14. Anyone know of any
economical piggy back mounting options, ie rings, hardware etc? I see Scopestuff sells a $70 package. I don't need maximum rigidity, just a system that works. Any shouts for Scopestuff? Thanks in advance, Richard |

Hi: I haven't seen Scopestuff's rings, but if their other products are any gauge, they should be good. Another good option is Ken's Rings and Things. I've been very pleased with Ken's cheap, effective ST80 rings: http://www.kendauzat.net/ Peace, Rod Mollise Author of _Choosing and Using a Schmidt Cassegrain Telescope_ Like SCTs and MCTs? Thanks guys,
I have ordered before from ScopeStuff and always been pleased with their service. I'll check out Ken's site too. Rich "Rod Mollise" wrote in message ... Any shouts for Scopestuff? Thanks in advance, Hi Richard, Jim Henson (Mr. ScopeStuff) just can't be beat! I've ordered tons of 'scope stuff' from him and have always been pleased. His URL is www.scopestuff.com for those that don't know and might want to take a look. By the way, I have no financial connection to Jim or his fine merchandise other than being a very satisfied customer. Clear Skies, Dave Jessie |

Sure - cut ring sections of appropriate pvc pipe, drill and tap 3 each
for nylon set screws. Glue to pvc pipe blocking, drilland tap to scope holes (never more than 1/2" entrance each screw) ... and there you have it. Looks good. Smells good. Tastes good. Works. If you dont like the idea of the pvc blocks then widen each ring, drill and tap 2 holes each to a bottom aluminum support rail (which does look better). That;'s the dummies view of it but Im glad to share. Teresa Richard Darn wrote: I'm looking to mount an 80mm short-tube on my C14. I mount mine on both an LX-200 and NGT-18 with the camera mount. If you
need to align it, a ball mount, available from most any camera store, can go in between. "Richard Darn" wrote in message ... I'm looking to mount an 80mm short-tube on my C14. Hi: Why this might be OK for visual use, in my experience it's borderline for that, and unsuitable for imaging. Being the penny-pincher I am, I tried that on my C8 when I first got my 80. Despite a pretty hefty piggyback mount and a high quality ball mount, there was just too much flexure for my taste. You're right, it isn't steady enough for long exposure imaging. Makes a
dandy high power finder though, so I don't have to demount the CCD to locate a new object. "Rod Mollise" wrote in message ... I mount mine on both an LX-200 and NGT-18 with the camera mount.
