Hope everything goes good up there this year. Was going to go, but
after paying for the tags on the "Beast" I can't even buy a tank of
gas ( $2.25 a gal ). I'm back to walking until at lest the 1st.

I think we're going to have a good conference, as long as it doesn't snow.
It snowed in 1980, 1988, and 1996, so we're due again this year.

Alson:

Just a bit of clarification here please. When you say it snowed, do you mean
the speakers "snowed" the audience or did snow actually fall from the heavens
above...

Right now I'd worry about the winds we're getting, I was there the
first time with a guy who took me in 86 I think and Saterday was fine
( may have been 87 ) and we had to go back home, but the news was that
sunday was High Winds day up there. I remember him getting a t-shirt
with something about it on it.

I've seen some T-shirts that said, "I survived '88" showing someone hanging
onto a tree while being blasted by wind and snow.

That must have been it. I know it was a long time ago. I remember the
flea market sellers set up along a pathway that I think when I was up
there the last time was one of the telescope alleys.

I see that the organizers have again made the unfortunate decision not
to have a show-and-tell on Friday night. The Friday night short
presentations were always one of the highlights of the conference for
me.

Alson, do you have any say with the RTMC people in this matter? This
would have been a great year to have folks show off their best comet
pictures on a first come, first served basis.

Tom
