Might be different if you are using NTFS, but I am not sure about that; I know someone using XP, NTFS with no probs. I *have* just had to lower my priority in SETIDriver to low, cos it was hogging too many cycles (97%) when trying to boot other stuff, causing them to hang/dawdle. I have just spent 2 days getting rid of the ghastly, awful interface and creepy phone home behaviour of XP. John -- JC Morrice |

The CLI version will not show you what it is doing. If you have a slow
processor it may not be making much progress but open up the state.sah file eg with notebook and look at the "prog= "line which shows you the % progress. Alternatively run with the the -verbose command line ie froM a dos prompt "filename -verbose" and you get line by line progress. I prefer the Setistash setup. This uses the SAME CLI program BUT provides an interface to show you the progress of the units, it allows you to cache units (since it is so fast :-)) and you can use seti watch to look at the completed units. Hi,
I have downloaded the cli version and I typed in my e-mail address. Nothing happened or so it appeared. Should I be able to see anything (if I want) and should I seti monitor running at the same time? What do I do with the screensaver version? I think what I basically need is an idiots stpe-by-step instruction on this. I am not bad with computers but this seems hard. Thanks for your help so far and hopefully you can help further. It wasn't the phone home behaviour that worried me when I first installed XP but the number of people who were suddenly able to "phone" me! Viruses and improper suggestions you wouldn't believe... -- Save the Hubble Space Telescope! Remove spam and invalid from address to reply. |
