Default Wow - three moons!

http://www.google.com/search?q=astro...-8&sa=N&tab=gw

search google: astronomical nz society
finds several socs.

i watched jup moons for several nights
then i predicted their future config.
and confirmed.

very satisfying.
i also got a remarkable curious
photo of jupiter by lucky putting rangefinder camera
lense up to eyepiece.

yes it takes many attempts and isn't worth it.

you could also try community directory (wcc ??)
or ask not to put brilliant lights everywhere.

I got the OH a pair of 16x50 binoculars for his birthday. We've
rigged them up on a tripod. Just now looking at Jupiter. We can see
three moons! one on the left and two on the right, all in a line
with the planet.

Super cool, man. I wonder how much it would cost for a telescope
that would show the colours on Jupiter?

Whereabouts are you Sue? The local astronomical society will be able to give
you pointers on that. When I was in Christchurch the Canterbury Astronomical
Society had a bunch of friendly people - haven't really been involved in
amateur astronomy for ages, especially since moving to Wellington.
