I recently found an abused Meade 395 telescope at a local high school
tag sale and it has an objective with a couple of very large chips in it. After cleaning it up and adjusting the mount, I decided that it might be OK if it had a new objective. I contacted Meade to see if replacements were still available, and they told me that they were not. A quick perusal of this group tells me that the quality of Meade objectives is very spotty at best. Can anyone point me at a possible source of a replacement objective? Is this even something I should consider? Or, should I consider putting the whole thing into the trash? |
