Default Mount for Coronado PST

Okay... I am on the waiting list for a Coronado PST (who isn't!)... but I
want to be properly prepared and my Dob and GOTO experience are not helping
me much here. Since I'm pretty much new to this whole solar thing... what
kind of mount do I need to track the sun?

Is the whole mount/tripod thingey going to cost me substantially more than
the PST?

I would recommend a Super Polaris (driven) - they are affordable.

oh no you can do better. Ive seen them go for $350-$450 w. dual drives
and I would advertise for one at $450 and you may get responses. Of
course
the heavier SP-DX would be better. The rule is: as solid and best
tracking possible
for whatever $$$$$$ you have. In the case of h-a work you want
stability.

Nope. Given its size and mass, the PST should work fine on either an Orion
AstroView or SkyView Pro mount. Check http://www.telescope.com/ for more
info and pricing. The SkyView comes with drives and the AstroView can be
fitted with drives.

Hi

I was lucky enough to try out a PST a couple of
months ago. It is a relatively small and light
scope. So, what you want to do dictates the
mount. Photography will demand a tracking mount
of some sort, though with the relatively fast
exposures that will be required, this does not
have to be pricey. For visual use a substantial
photo tripod will be fine. A cheap home made
alt-az mount can be made very easily.

Hi Adam,

I'm sorry... I thought I made it clear in my original post. I know I can use
a camera tripod, but I want tracking. On another note, what was your opinion
of the PST?
