Jack,

This happend in late October last year and Attilla Danko, the
creator/maintainer of the clocks, provided us with a couple redirects while
he got the accounts cleared up. I found the redirects and tried them...no
luck. I've emailed Attilla and am waiting for a response.

If you're like me, I'm lost without the clocks!

Clear Skies,
Dave Jessie

Looks like the hosting ISP has pulled the plug :-(

We have to admit that we aren't paying anything so from that point we can't complain.

Hi:

We probably should be, of course, since most of us find the 'Clock so useful.
Maybe the time has come for Mssr. Danko to seek sponsorship. Sky and Scope,
Astronomy, how about it? Talk about a real "public service"!

Peace,

Woah! What about all the sponsors that the author did have? Quite a large
list if you ask me. Where's the accountability?

You people always tickle the stuff out of me. You have the $80,000 plus a
year for your boats, scopes, and expensive cars, but can't afford a few
cents to keep a struggling site on line. Mind boggling to say the least.

Please don't take this to me you, Patrice, as I don't but it irritates me
that the astro community as a whole wouln't try to keep the poor guy
on-line.

We don't know anything about the finances of the CSC.
My back of the envelope estimate made this not particularly profitable so he could
well be running this at a loss.

Maybe advertising, say GoogleAds http://www.google.com/ads/ might alleviate the issue.

That said, he's often use the ISPs that matched his revenues, which is to say the cheapest and likely worst service around.
Problems aren't surprises then.

Or maybe SEDS could host the clearSkyClock?

I suspect so. It's really a shame because it's so accurate, especially for
planetary observers. For my locale, it's often correct more than not.

Someone or some firm needs to come along and find out how much the cost
would be on a yearly basis. Or, take a bunch of people and split the amount
among them. Target the more professional amateur astronomers like doctors,
lawyers, vets, etc. Twenty dedicated individuals from the upper middle
class/ upper class could keep him on-line, all for minimal fees.

Or maybe SEDS could host the clearSkyClock?

Perhaps.

Why _aren't_ "we" paying anything? $20 isn't much to send their way.

Well some do. However if you look at the number
of sponsors (and now you can't) and assume
they kicked in $20 USD you are still don't have enough
to pay for full hosting cost by my guesstimates.
I could be wrong here but I don't think so.
