In general, I like Celestron products. In general, I like their
customer service. But it seems like only about 50% of my emails to them provoke a response. What happens to the other 50%? |

I never had to call them on the telephone. (Try it, then again you may
get the press 1 or 2 or 3... for whatever's) Im very happy with my C5 spotting scope. I want a job at Social Security Administration. They NEVER answer the phone. Just like me @ N.Y. If it's a more significant engineering issue, their VP of same is/was Rick Hendrick. (I'm only qualifying their employment status because that info is not freshness dated.) I've had mostly (+) experiences with Celestron, but I'm almost irresistibly charming on the phone. Few, if any, can ignore my charms. Towards that end, I've just pulled up your last 100 posts (from google) and am scrutinizing them all for just one misspelled word ;o) -- Martin |

Brian Tung asked:
I know you're just yoshing, but...*are* there 100 posts of John's that you can pull from Google? Yep, I was just yoshing, BUT, what the heck. . .I just gave it a try! There appears to be no way to fetch only the posts from one individual. You can get a number (and the posts) on the amount of posts in which a particular person is mentioned and/or has posted but there is no way that I can find to break the two down. So, for what its worth (not much I'm sure), here are some rough numbers: John Steinberg. . . . .between 3,000 and 4,000 Brian Tung. . . . . . . . .between 9,000 and 10,000 Me. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . between 1,000 and 2,000 Makes you think, doesn't it? -- Martin |

I suspect that the easy questions get answered by the cust service
tech. However, if I ask a question that requires the operator to consult another person, these are the ones that are ignored.... For instance, I asked about the cost required to have my orange tube C90 astro secondary baffle re-centered. No answer.... They seem to be responsive to warranty requests. I once sent in a new C90 with a severely distorted wavefront, I included an intereferogram I took myself, which clearly showed waves of distortion. The plot was professionally displayed with description and all the numbers. The tech asked me what it was.... Even after it was collimated, it showed a hideous star test, you know where all stars are shaped like those stick-on gold stars you used to get on your homework? The tech said he startested it at home himself and pronounced it excellent! It is a good thing the Schmidts really are excellent. |
