Default Tarter discusses search for aliens

Article in the Daily Mississippian from U. of Mississippi - Tarter
discusses search for aliens - by Erin M. Smith (Feb. 27,'04)

http://www.thedmonline.com/vnews/dis.../403f5188365a6

"...In 2007, Tarter said scientists are planning to build the Allen
Telespan Array, a group of more than 300 radio telescopes in California,
to expand in their search for signals."

(Perhaps some typos "Telespan" and 2007? Has the date Allen Array
slipped 2 years, the seti.org site says "The plan is to have it fully
operational by 2005." I remember reading somewhere that a preliminary
25 dish array would be done by the end of 2003 (which seemed to have
been a nice goal). Also, did they fully integrate the 3 dish testbed
array, I remember seeing two arrayed with "fringes", but I haven't read
if all three had been. Also, perhaps some productive work could be
accomplished during the testing phase?

Regards, Jason H.
