Is the Second Law of Thermodynamics Safe?

My comment in MNN:

The second law of thermodynamics is obviously false but a century and a half of brainwashing has blinded scientists to the obvious. Systems violating the second law are commonplace. Just an example - see the video below. Water placed in a strong electric field demonstrates perpetual motion able to produce unlimited amount of work at the expense of heat absorbed from the surroundings (no other source of energy is conceivable):
