Celestron 114mm Newtonian Collimation

Hi,

Has anyone had any experience collimating the Celestron 114mm Newtonian?

I picked up one on ebay but when I look through the eyepiece adapter the
image doesn't appear very symmetrical.
The manual talks about a collimation tool but I'm not sure where to get one
and how I would set about collimating it.

I've looked on google but can't find much help.

Any advice appreciated.

It's the long version 910mm without the barlow.

It's the long version 910mm without the barlow.

Should be relatively easy then. Look for any of a number of sites about
collimating Newtonian telescopes. You'll need a "Cheshire" collimating
eyepiece (Orion and Celestron both sell one) and patience.

Thanks Pat, that's just the sort of start I needed...

By the way have you any experience of piggy-backing an SLR on this
telescope?
I use a Nikon F (35yrs old and still going strong!) but it's a heavy camera
and I don't know whether I should trust the camera mount on the telescope.

The collimating tools are nice to have, but not absolutely essential.
If you want a process to hold you over until you can get tools,
