Default Jumped in a bought a 10" Orion Intelliscope Dob

I just bought a 10" Orion Intelliscope Dob from Starizona and they say
it will be here this week, as soon as tommorow. I always wanted a
telescope and after moving to Tucson, AZ from Michigan I knew the time
was right. The skies here are fantastic. I have been working with a
set of Pentax 12.5 x 50 DCF SP binoculars almost every night to learn
the sky. I decided on a Dob after reading and veiwing through various
scopes. Just bought a new house on the east side of town with very
dark skies away from city lights. I can't wait to get it set up, even
my wife and 8 year old daughter are excited since I took them to a
star party. I will be joing the Tucson Amateur Astonomy Society once I
feel a bit more comfortable with what I am doing.

Sounds great! However, let me suggest that you join a club sooner, rather
than later. One thing that a good club can do for you is to help you "feel
more comfortable with what you are doing", and If your local club can't or
won't help beginners, then I wouldn't join, period.

Hi Dennis,

Congratulations on the purchase of your new scope ... you made an
excellent choice. But, don't wait to join to the Tucson Amateur
Astronomy Society. I've been a member of a local club for over 20 years
and if there's one thing a member likes to do, it's to "talk" scopes and
observing .... doesn't matter if you're a newbie or an old timer. A club
is where you want to be, NOW ... to learn and share with others who love
this hobby. Believe me, you'll be glad you didn't wait ... and don't be
shy to get involved. Even if you think you don't have any knowledge to
share. After all, you own a new 10" Orion Intelliscope and I'm sure
there would be a lot of club members who would just love to hear about
this brand "new" Orion scope.

Happy observing ...

Jim

sounds great! It is kinda making me jealous, as I live in a small crowded
light polluted country :-(

They are fantastic. At 30 oz I have taken them on hikes in the desert
and enjoyed them . I have set them on a tripod for night use do to the
fact thet they are 12.5 power and I want to keep them steady. They are
as bright as any binoculars I have ever used. I found them on eBay
from a NY dealer for a price under 550.00. Good dealer, I had them 3
days after I sent payment. I will be happy to supply the name if you
wish.
