Default Got a few questions...

Finally got enough money saved up to get a new budget scope. Been using my
Meade 4.5 inch for 5 years now with orginal eyepieces. Could not see much
with it but was great for teaching me the basics. I have around $500 to
spend and was planing on purchasing one of the following...

From http://murni.com/ody_0.htm

ODYSSEY 8L 8 in. 56 X 10 in. Lunar/Planetary Scope, 45 lbs. $399.95
f/7 27 mm Coated eyepiece. [Improved stability,
Easy-Adjust Rear Cell, Cool-down Fan option]

ODYSSEY 8
8 in. 36 X 10 in. Ultra-Compact-Deep Space, 39 lbs. $399.95
f/4.5 27 mm Coated eyepiece. [Rock-Solid Dob mount,
big smooth bearings, Improved Micro-Focuser]

What I want to know is if any of u have used one of these scopes and what
are your opions. Also what would be some good eyepieces to go with it?

And has any one ordered from the company I posted the link to?

I didn't realize they were still in business. That company has been through
many hands and many reincarnations.

My suggestion would be to consider one of the Asian built 8 inch F6 DOBs like
the Orion XT-8, Hardin Optical or Hands on Optical scopes or if you want to buy
in the USA made, Discovery.

All these seems to be quite good and most are immediately available. Discovery
may have a delay.

Also consider the 10 inch F5 DOBs which are available for $500 plus shipping
from Oceanside Photo and Telescope and Hardin Optical plus the other vendors.

That would be my suggestion, optically these scopes are quite good and pretty
much ready to go out of the box. Historically, I do not believe this has been
true with the Coulter/Ossessy scopes.
