Default Fantastic grazing occultation

This morning at 5:46 CST I watched gamma Virginis get grazed by the
moon with my 18 inch. It was especially interesting since it is a
close double star of about 1.0 arcseconds with equally bright
components. I couldn't believe it when the realized the day before
that my back yard was about 0.6 miles from the graze path. The first
time it went out for 2 min 26 sec and then it came back for 15 seconds
and went out again for about 20 seconds. There was a stepwise light
curve that lasted about 0.5 seconds due to the double component.
Prety cool. Any one else see this?

I'd say that's pretty fantastic, indeed.

Oh round eye! You so big!

Actually, jokes aside, that was an excellent sighting. Unfortunately I
didn't see this myself.

Jim

You must have spent some time in the Pac area.
