During the almost 6 years I've lived in this trailer park, I've enjoyed at lest
partly dark skys here. Only the billboards by the freeway and the lights of
Palmdale / Lancaster dimmed the sky down, now the biker As*Hole who bought
trailer #16, the one right by the end of the row which until now has been dark,
has put up one of those blasted HPS lights and leaves in on all night long now.

I am now going to start packing stuff up and will realy watch for another place
now, someplace where I can have my garden, my cats, and dark skys again.

major bummer.

Hi Dennis:

Sorry to hear this...but these things usually work for the best. Hope you can
find a more hospitable environment soon.

My neighbor across the street -- generally quite a nice guy -- set up an
unshielded mercury arc lamp (I think they call it a NEMA-head style)
and lit up the neighborhood for a few months. Then he turned it off.
When I told him how much better I liked it off, he explained that he'd
stopped running it because it was so expensive! Incremental cost of
power is about $.09/kwh here in central IL -- I'll bet it's more in
southern California.

May your neighbor have such an epiphany if you don't find another site soon --
or even if you do -- I'll bet your neighbors aren't all that crazy about the
glare either.

I'll be watching the newspaper ads ( little hope there ) and will spread the
word to people I meet and when I've got enough gas will drive out some of the
back roads outside of L.A. County ( don't want to be in L.A. for major resons. )
It'll take some time, but with the old truck, I'll be able to look around the
way I couldn't before.

How about inviting him over to look through the telescope -- maybe during
Saturday night's lunar eclipse?

And if that doesn't work, here's a couple of other suggestions:

1. Drive over your Yellow Beastie with those big back tires and tell him the
joke that ends with:

"Yeah, not much of a man and not much of a truck driver either, he just backed
over three motorcycles."

2. Mention that you think his "Night Light" is real bright but you were under
the impression that "Night Lights" were for little kids with teddy bears.

3. Buy him a night scope for his AK-47.

He knows all about me and the scope and has seen me out, and the times I've gone
past with scope in truck while he's sitting outside, all the can do is laft
about my setup. He's a scammer to boot.

He can't own a gun! Does that tell you anything? Came by it tonight and couldn't
see around the driveway, so I when around blowing my horn in case any car was on
the otherside.

Oh, I liked the one about the small sized truck driver and the bikers at a
eating place on the highway.

My guess is that he probably can't go to sleep without a bright lights outside
his window. It reminds of the good old days in the State Pen.

Starlord,
I have been reading your posts here for quite some time, and I just want
to comment on the signature quote that you use. Of course I recognized it
immediately the first time that I read it because it is from my all-time
favorite novel. I must have read this book at least 20 times in my life (so
far!) and I enjoy it just as much now as I did the first time I read it.
Take care.....

Randy L.
