Default ATK's Liberty rocket hopes to launch in 2015

Is there no market left for normal SRB *bosters* ? Airane 5 uses SRB
boosters, doesn't it ?

ATK does not make Ariane 5's solids.

WOuldn't it be much simpler to strap on 2 smaller ATK SRBs to an Ariane
5 core instead of stacking the ariane 5 on top of a very long fire
cracker made by ATK ?

ATK does not make Ariane 5's solids. It used to make shuttle SRB's and
would like to continue making shuttle derived SRB's.

If is it blatantly obvious to so many that SRB as main engines are not
really workable, how come ATK is still pushing for this ? Is this just
some "pork" work because they get funding from NASA ?

ATK would like to continue making shuttle derived SRB's.

And if SRBs don't have much future, why isn't ATK recycling itself to
use its experience to build liquid fueld rockets instead ?

ATK does not make liquid fueled rocket engines or rockets. It's a
completely different skill set due to the huge difference in the design
of the two.

Again, if ATK can't shove their SRB's down someone's throat, they're
either going to shrink dramatically or simply go out of business.

This is a company strggling to keep itself relevant, but unfortunately,
they've had a very narrow focus in terms of products. If those products
are no longer needed, they're s.o.l.
