http://spaceweather.com/images2003/19oct03/484_med.gif SOLAR ACTIVITY: Sunspot 484 near the sun's northeastern limb is growing remarkably fast. Yesterday it was barely visible. Now it is about 7 times wider than Earth and poses a threat for X-class solar flares. (Indeed, an X-flare has just erupted from the active region at 1645 UT.) The sunspot is easy to see, but never look directly at the sun. Always practice safe solar observing. See: http://spaceweather.com/sunspots/doityourself.html |
