Default camera mount

Can someone recommend some kind of adapter so i can mount my Nikon 990
digital camera to a 1.25" eyepiece? I'd like to try some astrophotography.
I've got scope and camera, now i need to marry the two.
Thanks
Eric

I'm not familiar with the 990 model. Is its lens removeable? If so, it'll
be a standard Nikon bayonet-like mounting to the camera body, and all you'll
need to get is a "T-Mount Adapter" at any camera store for about US$10 or so.
Two that I have (for Nikon) are the Qualide T-MOUNT ADAPTER, part 25-166-0486
which I bought at a local Wolf Camera, and the Orion #05205 which they call a
"T-ring, Nikon" (and costs $4 more than the one from Wolf Camera).

Once you have the T-mount adapter, then you need a "Prime Focus Adapter" which
screws into the T-mount adapter at one end and the other end resembles a normal
1-1/4" eyepiece barrel and simply slips into the scope (or diagonal if you're
hurting for clearance space).

A reasonably good "Prime Focus Adapter" can be found in Orion's #05264 Univeral
Camera Adapter 1.25" kit which includes a prime focus adapter and stuff for
eyepiece projection.

If your lens is non-removeable, then you need a bracket fixture to hold your
camera (via its 1/4-20 tripod mounting socket) against an eyepiece. Several
companies make these but the only one I've used is Orion's #05228 SteadyPix
Universal Camera Mount. Visit http://www.telescope.com/ to see the Orion
items; key in the part numbers (#nnnnn) to go directly to the item page.

The lens has a thread on it, i believe its 28mm. You can add lens to it
also, although i havnt done that.
Here's a blip describing the camera:
3.34 megapixel CCD for ultra high definition 2,048 x 1536 pixel images; 3x
Zoom-Nikkor lens with focal range of 8-24mm combined with 4 x digital zoom;
Manual Exposure enables full creative control; USB interface for fast data
transfer;
