Hi
In anticipation of our fisrt baby next year i manage to perusade mmy wife to go along with the purchasing of Rebel Digital. Well but what Rebel Digital got to do with Sci.Astro After getting it on my hand yesterday afternoon (9/24/03). I was blessed with crisp clear night sky. My first 12 image of night sky with the 18-55mm lens show incredible result. Focussing is a pain ( focus go beyond infinity ) Talk about snapshot astrophotography. And the feedback is instant. No longer do i have to wait to finish the whole roll of 36 and have the film lab mess up the printing. My old astrophoto taken with fuji 800 still better but the convinient of Rebel Digital is unprecendented at least for me. Also it go fire the shutter without lens attached. So i need to get a Tring adaptor and possibly eyepiece projection to Lunar photography. INHO in the next few year Film based astrophotography will only be practiced by few quality driven and hardened astrophotographer. For the mass i suspect Digital is the way to go. Right now i have no sample available of the web until i figure out how to resize the photo. I took the initial astrophoto snapshot using large fine setting and 800 asa. wide open and 30 - 20 sec shutter time. No tracking was attempted, i was to excited to setup the Super polaris. The resulting Jpeg was 3.10 Mb yes 3.10 Mb . i really need to learn the photoshop quick. Anybody using Rebel Digital here too ? What is your impression. do you think Rebel digital has alot potential.
