Default proper GEM

What is the minimum I have to spend to get a sturdy, well made GEM to do
necessary tracking for deep sky object astrophotos? I suspect 1000-1500.

The tracking isn't the problem. Generally it must be guided ........
very few mounts can do 10 to 20 minute unguided exposures.

Have a look at this page with lots of astronomy information including a
link to measurements of the periodic errors in various cheap & expensive
mounts.

That's a reasonable estimate without goto. Think Losmandy.; superb
value for the price.
