Astronomy.FM Radio (AFM*Radio) is a 24 hour astronomy and general
science streaming internet radio service. Programs are repeated in 3-hour blocks to better serve time zones around the globe. (In the past month AFM*Radio has had listeners in 36 countries.) A new broadcast day begins at 0200 GMT each day. Today we are broadcasting the following shows (times are approximate): ~ "NASA's Night Sky Network / GLOBE at Night" ~ A Citizen-Scientist Program to Measure Night Sky Brightness Dr. Connie Walker, of the National Optical Astronomy Observatory (at 0200, 0500, 0800, 1100, 1400, 1700, 2000, 2300 GMT) ~ "This Week in Science" the Kick-Ass Science Show! ~ with Dr. Kiki Sanford and Justin Jackson (0300, 0600, 0900, 1200, 1500, 1800, 2100, 0000 GMT) In the show this week: Haitian Earthquake Aftermath, Combo For Remedy, Rainbow of Planets, Eye Test For Brains, Smart Oil, Big Thinking Bacteria, Killer Whale Speciation?, And Much More! ~ "365 Days of Astronomy" hosted today by Megan Argo ~ The daily program of the International Year of Astronomy (0400, 0700, 1000, 1300, 1500, 1800, 2100, 0100 GMT) Aboriginal art meets modern astronomy. ~ "NASA's Blueshift" ~ Science at the End of the Earth; Part II (0415, 0715, 1015, 1315, 1515, 1815, 2115, 0115 GMT) A remote research outpost like McMurdo Station in Antarctica draws many different kinds of people – scientists, engineers, writers, artists, and more. The station provides many of the comforts of home, and it’s difficult to get bored with the opportunities presented during a visit. Whether it’s learning to drive the special ice- friendly vehicles or participating in a chili cook-off, visitors often find themselves embarking on adventures and picking up unusual skills outside the scope of their own area of expertise.
