Default Time to go!

I have stated to some that come 2010 that's it, I'm done with double
stars. I have stated to some fewer that 2010 has come early, and I've
already stopped, although I seem to be breaking my own rules at times
on the latter, as in this case.

Why do I keep slipping? Lack of discipline, no doubt, but truly I am
sick to death of half baked comments from ostensibly experienced and
well respected individuals, primarily because they carry weight and
are all that novices and beginners get to see to gauge things by.

Well, because in researching, and cross indexing, and caring enough
about others work to check that someone else hasn't already found and
solved them (damned rare that attitude, even amongst professionals),
I've found that there is a lot of unmitigated crap out there. Lots
and lots of my amateur discoveries make it into the WDS catalogue
without peer review. Ooh, someone says, it's John, I'll accept
everything. Old pal, one of the lads, there's rigorous, look you.

Next bloke comes along, somebody not in the "club", maybe a foreigner,
maybe somebody the folk in Washington don't like. Best check what they
have to say, check the data, check the results, All good and proper.
And the damned well same thing should be done with everybody's data,
every ones, no self confessed competent submitters allowed. We have
John's word for it, eh? How sodding scientific
