Default Celestron C6-R Question

I'm a beginner, but this scope is in the price range I have decided upon.
Would this perhaps be too much scope for a first instrument? Any
suggestions for an under-$1K scope would be appreciated; I am interested in
photography (which I know quite a bit about) and applying that interest to
astrophotography (which I know nothing about). Also, I simply like looking
at celestial objects.

Best Regards,

Wendy
