Nonsense, I remember seeing a 1970's desktop calculator where it could do only the basic operations and logs. Nothing else. It cost $375....back then. What that, a months pay? Lead acid batteries have been around much longer, and they're still expensive. They probably represent a better model for how the cost of solar cells will change than consumer electronics does.
