Hi Bruce-

The Binomax sets are pretty well back ordered. I doubt you'll find
stock. If you're in the Tucson area we could arrange a demo in the
near future if you call ahead and arrange an appointment. Outside
chance of having a set along for the OSP at the end of this month but
it's a pretty remote chance.

They work *very* well. Wouldn't be my personal choice for a primary
H-a observation instrument but the Binomax is an elegant, compact
package ideal for travel use or to have handy in the vehicle. No muss,
no fuss, no mount. 0.7 Å views in true binocular vision- pretty cool
stuff.

And with those who seem to be good, I didn't find very easy to see
solar flars. Maybe 10x is to much for small details....

You cannot see solar flares with a white light filter unless it's a white-light
flare, and those are very rare.

I also had a pair of Binomites (when they first came out) and i was
disappointed with the quality. It essentially seemed to be a cheap pair of $20
binos with a couple of tiny solar filters stuck on with rubber fittings. Mine
also had a crack in one of the filters, so I returned it and made a pair of
Baader filters for my 10X tiny binos, and it works wonderfully. I don't use it
much, as it is very difficult to hold still enough to view the sun.

We are talking apples to oranges here.

The Binomite is a White light filtered bino.
The original poster asked about the BinoMax which has a Ha Filter.

Check out:

Aaack!!!! You are so right!!!!! He was asking about the SM40/BF system that
is mounted on a Canon IS binocular! My bad, big time!!!!

You CAN see flares with a BinoMAX, but not a BinoMITE.

Thank you for clearing that up.

I'd like to hear the answer to this as well.

I do know the binoviewer they are using is top notch, and I've never
heard anyone complain about the Ha filters - so all I can say is I
*wish* I were lucky enough to have one to look through.

If you find out - let the rest of us know.
