![]() "R. Douglas Hulse" wrote in message ... I am considering a very wide field ocular for my TV-101 and Meade 7" MCT. Does anyone have any thoughts or even better, experience? The main consideration is exit pupil, which is determined by dividing the focal length of the eyepiece by the focal ratio of the telescope. There are two issues he 1) The larger the exit pupil, the brighter the background sky appears in the eyepiece. 2) In an obstructed scope, there is an upper limit on exit pupil, after which the secondary obstruction becomes visible in the eyepiece. Based on the above, in theory, the 31mm Nagler would almost always be preferable. -Stephen Paul |
