On a Saturn V flight, approximately how far downrange and at what
altitude did the S-IV staging occur? (My rough estimate is 1,000 miles downrange and 100 miles high.) -- Replace you know what by j to email |

On Apollo 11, according to the Apollo 11 Flight Journal http://history.nasa.gov/ap11fj/01launch.htm Outboard Engine S-II cutoff occured at 100 nm altitude, 883 nm downrange. The next PAO callout (after S-IVb ignition) is at 101 nm altitude, 1000 nm downrange. |
